BSS, Dhaka :What should be the priciest gift for a mother from her kids? Certainly love that is divine and exhibited in all women irrespective of caste, creed and religion. In the visible world, everyday is a Mother’s Day, as a mother knows it well that whenever life is overwhelming, she soon turns herself to the Almighty. Because motherhood is a divinely appointed calling, mothers are enabled by help from above in times of need. Through sleepless nights, dark days, and seemingly impossible and difficult circumstances, the prayer of a mother is a source of unparalleled divine power at homes and also outside everyday, not on a particular day. The World Mother’s Day will be celebrated in Bangladesh today with due honour to the woman, participating in the miracle that is Allah’s greatest work in creating human being and other creatures. In this miraculous process, The Almighty and a mother are partners in creation, in love, in sacrifice and in service. The celebration of Mother’s Day began in the United States in the early 20th century. Afterwards, the day has been celebrated in other parts of the world. In Bangladesh, sons and daughters mostly visit their mothers with special gifts, make outings for all of their family members orhold a special meal at home or in a restaurant on the day. The World Mother’s Day will be celebrated in Dhaka and other parts of the country on the second Sunday of the month of May to show special honor to the mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds, and the role of mothers in society. In some countries Mother’s Day has become synonymous with much older traditions. While talking to BSS yesterday, several minor girls quite smilingly said they love their mothers like anything, as they know for sure that there is no greater gift than a mother’s love for them. “My mother loves me, I also love her but tomorrow I will give her a special gift to see she is smiling like a full moon,” said a girl student of Class 2. The minor girl Shahrin of Monipur High School and College at Mirpur in the city was proud enough when she said she had saved a little cash from her daily Tiffin to buy a small gift for her mother on the occasion of the World Mother Day.The little girl may not be matured enough to understand the realities around, but she can easily realize the amount of love and guidance she gets from her mother, who surely expects her dream be fulfilled by her small kid when she grows to her level one day in future. Another minor girl, Syeda Sanchita Nahar, also studying in the same class of the school said she would celebrate the day by giving a small gift to her mother. “I will request my father to give me some money to buy a gift, which would make my mother happy because happiness, like most things, comes from mother, a source of warm affection,” Sanchita said. A number of socio- cultural organizations, especially the women bodies, have chalked-out programs across the country to celebrate the day in a befitting manner. Both print and electronic media will give special focus upon the significance of the day through publishing special articles and putting on special programs. On the occasion of the World Mother’s Day, the International Labor Organization (ILO) urged governments to implement policies, which guarantee maternity protection for the greater well being of mothers, as well as society.
