A woman tried to commit suicide by taking poison after killing her one-year-old girl in the city’s Gandaria area on Tuesday morning.
Sonia’s husband Anwar Hossain, a Security Guard, said, “Sonia killed their one-year old baby girl by feeding her pesticide.
After that, she also herself took the pesticide and telephoned me to commit suicide.” Anwar said, Sonia narrated the incident to him over phone.
“I came home without delay and found that the duo were lying on the floor. Soon they were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the baby was declared dead.
The body was kept at the hospital morgue, DMCH police outpost In-Charge Bachchu Miah said.
He however could not disclose why Sonia killed her daughter and herself also tried to commit suicide. Sonia is now undergoing treatment there .
