A woman and her son were killed in a head-on collision between a pick-up van and a truck at Bijoypasha in Sadar upazila early Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Rubia, 35, wife of Hasibur Rahman, a resident of Haridaspur village of the upazila, and their son Rifat, 5.
Selim Reza, inspector of Sadar Police Station, said the Gopalganj-bound pick-up van carrying the family from Dhaka collided with the truck coming from opposite direction on Dhaka-Khulna highway in the area around 5.30am, leaving Rubia and Rifat dead on the spot and Hasibur injured.
The injured was first admitted to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital, and later shifted to Dhaka as his condition deteriorated.
