A mother of five children named Fatima Akhter Pakhi (48) in Sharankhola committed suicide on Friday.
Hasan Munshi, son of locals, police and the deceased, said that Fatima Akhter’s wife, wife of Lutfar Rahman Munshi, a resident of South Amargaichia village of the upazila, had been suffering from many complex diseases for a long time. Recently, after having three operations in different parts of his body, he could not bear the physical pain due to his illness.
She committed suicide by hanging himself with a garment in his house kitchen. When the family came to notice, he rescued him and brought him to Sharonkhola Health Complex that night, the duty doctor declared him dead. Officer-in-Charge of Sharonkhola Police Station Dilip Kumar Sarkar said that the body was sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy and recorded an unnatural death case.
