Mother Language Day observed at BIU

On the occasion of Martyr Day and International Mother Language Day-2017, a discussion meeting chaired by Prof Dr Anwarullah Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor, Bangladesh Islami University (BIU) was held recently at the auditorium of BIU. The speakers at the meeting were Prof Sayed Kamaluddin Abdullah Zafree, Founder, BIU and Chairman, Board of Trustees, BIU; Dr Mahbubullah, former Professor of Economics, University of Dhaka; Prof Dr ANM Rafiqur Rahman, Vice-Chairman, Board of Trustees, BIU; Masud Majumder, Executive Editor, The Daily Nayadiganta; Prof AFM Yousuf Haider, Treasurer (In-Charge), BIU and former Pro-Vice Chancellor, University of Dhaka; Profr Md. Yousuf, Registrar, BIU; Kobi Abdul Hye Sikder, Professor, GED; and Md. Rafiqul Islam, Associate Professor, GED, BIU.
To pay the tribute to the martyrs of language movement, speakers at the meeting said that the seeds of liberation war were embedded in the state-language movement in 1952. Prof Dr Mahbubullah said the demand of the celebration of International Mother Language Day is to preserve and dignify the mother languages of all countries across the world. Journalist Masud Majumder said Bangla language is highly enriched and its root remains in deep. The chair of the discussion meeting Prof Dr Anwarullah Chowdhury told that Ekush teaches us not to prostrate the head at unfairness; but to protest.
