A boy was hacked to death allegedly by his mother at Chitla village in Damurhuda upazila on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Alamin, 12, son of Azibar Rahman of the village.
Abu Zihad, officer-in-charge of Damurhuda Police Station, said that victim’s mother Hasina Khatun was sleeping with her three sons in their house.
At one stage, Hasina started screaming around 11pm saying that her son was murdered.
Hearing her scream, villagers rushed to the spot and found Alamin dead.
On information, police recovered the body and arrested three people, including Hasina, from the village.
Nizam Uddin, superintendent of Chuadanga Police said during primary interrogation Hasina confessed that she killed her son to implicate her two rivals- Johurul and Ibrahim-in a murder case.
