A mobile court here on Friday sentenced one mother to three days imprisonment for arranging the marriage of her underage daughter in Sadar upazila of the district.
Local sources said the mother Farida Begum had made arrangements for holding marriage of the daughter, who is a student of class five at Gilatali School in the area.
Being informed, police reached the spot and foiled the wedding. The police arrested the mother and accordingly handed over her to the local mobile court.
Later, the mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Rashedul Islam awarded the punishment to the mother. The convict mother was sent to jail.
