A moneylender tried to pick up a man from home as the man did not pay the interest money. Hearing the screams, the man’s mother came running and tried to save him. At one point, the mother was seriously injured and sent to local hospital. There the doctor declared her dead.
The incident took place at Syedgaon village in Nandail upazila of Mymensing on Wednesday. The victim was identified as Ambia Khatun (68) wife of Ashraf Ali of Syedgaon village in Nandail upazila.
On information, police recovered the woman’s body from Nandail Upazila Health Complex and brought it to the police station.
Her body was sent to Kishoreganj 250-bed hospital for autopsy .
Victim’s son Murshed Ali said, ‘I borrowed five thousand taka from Shahjahan on interest. For this, I had to pay 500 taka interest every day. I have given a lot of money to Shahjahan in the last two months as interest.
Murshed Ali alleged that he was sitting in Abdul Qayyum’s shop in front of his house on Wednesday night. At that time Shahjahan’s people called him from the shop and took him on the road and demanded 60,000 taka as interest.
At one point, when the two sides started arguing, Shahjahan and his musclemen tried to pick him up on an easybike. Hearing screams, his mother Ambia Khatun came.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) in Nandail Model Police Station, Mizamur Rahman Akhanda said that no signs of injuries where found on Ambia khatun’s body during the inquest. However, her sons have complained Ambia khatun’s death. For this reason, the body has been sent to morgue for autopsy.
A case was filed in this connection with Nandail Model Police Station.
