Mother, daughter slaughtered over ‘family dispute’ in Sylhet

A woman and her daughter was hacked to death by her stepson in Shah Paran police station in Sylhet. The victim’s son was seriously injured in the incident. The incident took place at around 12:00 am on Friday at a rented house in Mir Mahalla in the BIDC area under Shah Paran police station in Sadar upazila.
The deceased were identified as Rubiya Begum and her daughter Maha. Rubiya’s infant son Tahsan has been admitted to Osmani Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Rubiya’s stepson Mahbub Hossain Abad Hossain has been detained immediately after the incident. Abad Hossain, son of Abdal Hossain Bulbul of Beanibazar area of ??Sylhet.
Syed Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shah Paran Police Station said Mahbub hacked his stepmother and stepsister to death and injured the infant stepbrother “over a family dispute”. They have bruises all over their bodies. He then set fire to the mattress and closed the door from outside.
Upon receiving the news, the police went to the spot and recovered the body of the mother, daughter and sent them to Osmani Medical College Hospital. Besides, son Tahsan is being treated at the hospital in critical condition.
Doctors at Osmani Medical College Hospital said the deceased mother, daughter and the injured child had numerous sharp weapon marks on their bodies. Besides, efforts are being made to save the child Tahsan. He undergoing emergency surgery.
