A band of miscreants stabbed a woman and her daughter to death in the city’s south Nalapara area of Sadarghat in the heart of the port city yesterday morning. The deceased were identified as Nasima Begum, 29, wife of Shah Alam, a meat trader and his daughter Riya Akhter, 10, resident of the area.
Police recovered the slit-throat bodies of a woman and her ten year -old daughter from their flat in Sadarghat area of Chittagong last morning.
Police said the mother’s body was found at her drawing room while the body of her daughter, a class four student, was recovered from bathroom .
The miscreants stabbed Nasima and Riya to death and left the bodies on the 3rd floor of a six -storey building around 10am, said Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge of Sadarghat police station added.
Police also seized a bloodstained knife from the spot but could not find out any clue behind the killing of mother and daughter .
The high officials of Chittagong Metropolitan Police visited the place of occurrence and are investigating into the double murder.
Meanwhile separate teams of Detective police, thana poice, CID officials led by Additional Police commissioner Banaj Kumar Majunder visited the spot of occurrence of the incident, sources said. House owner Shah Alam claimed that these miscreants took away about 8 to 10 tolas of gold and cash Tk.1.30 lakh from the steel almirah during their gruesome killing. Separate police probe teams have been formed to investigate the matter of killings , sources said.
