A teenage girl was raped twice to thrice every day by a Bangladeshi expatriate for 17 days while her mother was violated by the same man for years.
The 12-year old girl gave a harrowing account of how a Bangladeshi expatriate kept her confined in his house and raped her for 17 days, Police said.
The traumatized child told a Biyanibazar court that her rapist Sarwar Ahmed, 38, threatened her and forced her to keep silent, said our local correspondent quoting the court police.
“He threatened and raped me for 17 days,” the child told the court on Monday. Before it, the girl’s father filed a case with Bianibazar Police Station against Sarwar on May 22, said Bodruzzaman, Inspector (Investigation) of the police station.
At the same time, the child’s mother also had been deflowered by Sarwar for years. Both of them worked as the domestic help at Sarwar’s house, the Police official said.
Police sought 5-day remand for Sarwar and everything will be cleared after interrogation under custody, the Inspector said.
“I heard that the violated woman was admitted to One-stop Crisis Center of Osmani Medical College Hospital (OMCH) in sylhet,” he said.
Biyanibazar Police Sub-Inspector Mokhlesur Rahman, who is investigating the case, said that Sarwar had physically and sexually abused the child numerous times.
“She was raped twice or thrice a day in captivity,” he said. The victim has been currently admitted at OMCH’s One-Stop Crisis Centre.
Child rape incidents have increased worryingly in Bangladesh in recent months.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested accused Sarwar on Sunday from Biyanibazar and rescued the victim, said RAB-9 Senior Additional Superintendent of Police Moinuddin Chowdhury.
He said the victim and her mother were domestic help at Sarwar’s Sylhet residence, the RAB official said.
When the child’s mother learnt about her ordeal, she tried to go back to their village with her daughter. But Sarwar assaulted the woman leaving her critically injured. She was admitted to Osmani Medical College Hospital (OMCH).
RAB raided Sarwar’s house after the mother informed them about her daughter’s situation.
