Most students’ bodies devoid of morality, says ACC Chairman

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman M Badiuzzaman said most of the students’ bodies in our country have become devoid of morality and ideology resulting in increase of corruption in society.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a prize distribution ceremony marking ‘Corruption Prevention Week-2014,’ at Shilpakala Academy auditorium in the city on Monday.
The students’ groups from Gaibandha and Kishorganj districts became champion and runners-up respectively at the secondary level in the debate competition on corruption issue.
On the other hand, the learners’ groups of Dhaka and Bagerhat districts became champion and runners-up respectively at
the higher secondary level.
“If an attitude against corruption can be created among the young generation, it would be possible to create honest leadership in different fields”, he said.
The main objective of ACC, he said, is to create hatred against corruption among the students so that they can give honest leadership in future.
The reasons behind arranging the debate competition in different educational institutions, he said, are to create such spirit among the students.
Referring to the poor financial condition in the country, he said the country is still in its fight for economic emancipation of the millions.
“We have to fight against corruption to keep the economy moving”, he said.
ACC Commissioners Shahabuddin Chuppu and Dr Nasiruddin Ahmed were among others, present at the programme with ACC Secretary M Faizur Rahman Chowdhury in the chair.
A total of 1,073 people out of 16 crore, Faizur Rahman Chowdhury said, are working against corruption. “It is not possible to curb corruption from the society only by a few unless the people from all sphere of life come forward in the fight against corruption, he said.
Later, prizes were distributed among the winners.
