Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel said maximum private universities are not playing vital role in creating knowledge through research work in respective subjects. He said those universities are thinking over commercial side, they should be dedicated towards research based education .
The Deputy Minister said though some institution are contributing role for higher education but some are legging behind in this respect. He urged the management of private universities to change their thinkings for knowledge based research work rather commercial motives. He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after assuming power in 2008 , Private University Act was passed which resulted us to interfere the matters of the private varsities .
Following the passing of Pvt University Act, the ownership of the such universities declared void and govt may look after the affairs of the such universities if needed.. He disclosed it wh ile addressing se cond convocation ceremony of Premier University recently at its main campus at GEC circle as chief guest. Deputy Minister mentioning the students told that in developed countries, there are Alumni Associations which play role to help facilitate the graduates to a better profession with good working facilities .Despite the difference of opinions among the students, but we all should be united in respect of education.
He further said we should try to fulfill the ultimate desire of the Prime minister to sustain SDG as well as mid income country within short possible time..
