Most of the 300 militants caught since the Holey Artisan Bakery attack are now in hiding after securing bail, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) said on Sunday.
“We want to assure all that they will not be able to resurface for a long time,” RAB Director General Benazir Ahmed said in a pre-Eid view exchange with reporters.
RAB caught a total of 512 militants since Holey Artisan attack in 2016. Among them, 300 secured bail and went into hiding since, he said.
“We have taken measures coordinating our intelligence with that of other intelligence agencies,” he said. “We are ready to face any challenge,” Benazir Ahmed said.
He also requested lawyers not to participate in legal fight for militants. “It will be a suicidal to give legal assistance to militants,” he said to the lawyers.
On Eid security, the RAB DG said, his force enforced its security arrangement so that people can go home and come back peacefully on the occasion of Eid festival.
They have already set up 15 temporary camps at bus, train and launch terminals in Dhaka. Also, watch has been mounted in 42 areas vulnerable to traffic congestion across the country.
Moreover, RAB will ensure security around 500 venues including Jatiya Eidgah where the Eid congregations will take place, the RAB chief said.
