Mosquito menace has made the life of the people of Rangpur city and rural areas of the district miserable.
Just after sunset swarms of mosquitoes from nearby derelict tanks, ponds, water bodies and dirty drains invade the houses with full fury disturbing the study of the students, sleep of the inmates and affect household activities.
The countless mosquitoes start coming to the residences, hospitals, clinics, hotels, business establishments etc. Every night people adopt various means to get rid of mosquito but all their efforts prove in vain.
The poor people who cannot afford to purchase mosquito-net, and coils pass sleepless night. The people cannot work even at day time. The mosquitoes are not sparing the domestic animals.
Taking advantage of the discomfort of the city dwellers dishonest traders have been selling adulterated mosquito coils to make quick money easily, sources alleged.
The municipality authorities are quite indifferent to combat this mosquito menace, which put the city dwellers in endless sufferings, sources added.
