Mosque -based edn playing key role in Narsingdi

The Mosque- based Child and Mass Education Programme organised by Islamic Foundation has been playing a vital rule in eradicating illiteracy from the district during the last 23 years.
The programme begain in 1993 in the district. The Islamic foundation then set up 186 mosque-based child ( pre-primary) education centres and eight mosque-based mass education centres in four upazilas of the district . Gradually it has been increased education centres and introduced Quran learning centres in all the six upazilas of the district. At present there are 292 mosque-based child education centres,12 mass education centres 160 mosque based Quran education centres running in the district. A total of 8760 students aged between 4 to 5 years are now reading in mosque-based child ( pre-primary) schools and 300 students age between15 to 45 are reading in mosque-based mass education centres and 5600 students are enrolled in mosque-based Quran education centres .Each child education centre has 30 students, each mass education centre has 25 students are learning Arabic, Bangla, Mathematics and English for one year. and each Quran education centre has 35 students are learning Nurani education. The students have been provided with free text-books and other education materials by the foundation.
Besides Islamic Foundation set up 6 model and 14 general resources centres in the district. Deputy Director, Islamic Foundaion Narsingdi Abdus Samad while talking to This Correspondent at his office last Wednesday said over 1,50000 children 4to5 years old so far received their pre-primary education from mosque based child education centres,6000 students age between 15to 45 received education on Arabic, Bangla ,arithmetic and English from mass education centres and about one lakh students received learning of holy Quran from Quran centres.
