Awami League’s Chattogram South District Unit president Moslem Uddin Ahmed has been picked for contesting the Chattogram-8 by-election on the party ticket.
The decision came from a meeting of Awami League Nomination Board held at the Prime Minister’s official residence Ganobhaban on Monday with Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
The by-election to the parliamentary seat (Boalkhali) which fell vacant following the death of Moin Uddin Khan Badal will be held on January 13 next.As per the schedule, the deadline for the submission of nomination paper is December 12, while the date for scrutinizing the nomination papers is December 15 and the last date for the withdrawal of candidacy is December 22.The Chattogram-8 constituency is comprised of five wards (ward No 3-7) of Chattogram City Corporation and Boalkhali upazila except Sripur and Kharandip unions.
