Agriculture Minister Dr M Abdur Razzaque said the government has a plan to construct more crop storages (Shasyagudam) across the country to ensure fair price of agri-products and food security as operation of crop storage programme has been recognized as a popular and successful model throughout the country.
“As the Shasyagudam programme has been recognized as a popular and successful model considering the benefits of the farmers, so the government will build more crop storages across the country”, he said as the chief guest on Thursday while attending a ceremony on signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the agriculture ministry and the local government division at his ministry’s conference room here.
At the same time, the government will enhance farmers’ training facilities by constructing 106 farmer training centers throughout the country, the minister told the meeting.
The agriculture ministry and the local government and engineering department (LGED) signed the MoU for handing over the ownership of 69 crop storages and construction of farmers’ training centers which will be constructed in 106 upazilas under 47 districts.
LG Division Senior Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed and Agriculture Secretary M Meshbahul Islam signed the MoU.
Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister M Tajul Islam also attended the programme as the special guest.
