Chief Information Officer AKM Shamim Chowdhury said more than 1800 applications received for online portal registration in last two months. He disclosed while view exchanging meeting with the journalists of Chittagong at Chittagong Press Club .
CIO in his brief deliberations said broadcasting policy is being implemented which is nearing completion . After completion of the policy, the online portal registration will be registered as per existing law of the policy. He disclosed that out of total applications for online portal include 70 for online TV, 30 for online Radio and rest are online portal newspaper.
A number of applications for online portal newspaper now under process so submitted before last 2 months, he added. He also said present govt is media friendly govt and govt want to extend social media services to the doorsteps of all people through free media policy.
He further disclosed that at there are 26 tv channels, 17 radio channel, 15 community radio and more than 800 portal newspapers in the country. President of Chittagong Union of Journalists Reaz Haider Chowdhury, former Press club President Ali Abbas, Journalist Md. Ali Sarkar spoke on the occasion duly moderated by the President of Chittagong Press club Kalim Sarwar, press club sources said.
