UNB, Dhaka :
BNP on Friday demanded the government beef up security measurers for its Chairperson Khaled Zia on her return home as the ‘country’s law and order situation deteriorated.
In a statement, BNP spokesman Asaduzzaman Ripon said, “Khaleda Zia is returning from London in a flight of Emirates Airlines at 5pm on Saturday. We’re worried about her security due to slide in the country’s law and order situation.”
He further said, “We urge the government to take steps for intensifying the security of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia as her security is inadequate.”
On September 16, Khaleda Zia went to London on a personal tour for her eye treatment and celebrating Eid-ul-Azha there with her family members.
At a press conference on Thursday, Ripon said their chairperson decided to return home on Saturday without completing her health treatment considering the country’s political crisis and current critical juncture.
