The development organisations, involved with the nation-building activities, should conduct their activities and provide services to the common people with more responsibility, transparency and accountability.
The opinion came at a press conference on ‘Responsibility Development
Affairs of the Organisations involved with National-building Activities’under the ‘Agrani’ (Manusher Janno) Project held at RDRS auditorium in the city on Wednesday afternoon.
The District Development Forum (DDF) organised the press conference to
inform the mass media about the project activities being conducted for
reducing poverty through reaching government services to the poorer section people in hassle-free manner.
President of DDF and former Principal of Rangpur Carmichael College Professor Nur Nabi Chowdhury presided over the press conference.
Members of the district and upazila units of DDF and a large number of local journalists from the print, electronic and online media were present on the occasion.
General Secretary of DDF and senior journalist Shushanto Bhowmick discussed the activities being conducted by RDRS Bangladesh through DDF under the ‘Agrani’ (Manusher Janno) Project with financial assistance of Manusher Janno Foundation. He narrated about participation of the common people with the project
activities in different fields like primary education, health, agriculture, social safety net programmes like Vulnerable Group Development (VGD), developing good governance and enhancing abilities of the service providing organisations and institutions in cutting poverty.
He sought cooperation of the mass media in establishing more transparency and accountability in the process of providing the government services in various sectors to the peoples doorstops to make those more effective and people-oriented.
Project Coordinator of the ‘Agrani’ (Manusher Janno) Project of RDRS Bangladesh Mohammad Enayetullah and General Secretary of DDF Shushanto Bhowmick answered various questions asked by the journalists on the project activities.
Vice-president of DDF and valiant freedom fighter Majibar Rahman Master,Head of Programme Coordination of RDRS Bangladesh Monjusree Saha, its Programme Manager Merina Ahmed and Technical Officer Sadekur Rahman attended the press conference.
