Staff Reporter :
On the fifth day of the strict lockdown, more private vehicles were found on the city roads alarmingly. On the day, long lines of vehicles were seen on the roads to ply on. Although the autorickshaws were plying, no public transport was seen on Sunday.
Some complained that the police returned them to residence even after explaining urgent need and reasons.
Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies say, about 30 percent of the people who come to the streets do not have urgent work.
On Sunday, the first working day of the week, the Uttara-Banani road in the capital showed how the lockdown was going on! Seeing the presence of thousands of vehicles on the road, who will say that there is an overall lockdown across the country to keep the people inside the home!
The same picture was also seen in most of the corners of the city’s major alleys. Traffic police even were also seen round the traffic signals during the lockdown to cope with the pressure of the vehicles.
Law enforcers were active in various parts of the city to stop the unwanted movement of the people.
Although many have claimed that they had to day fines for going out on emergency work. Banani Chairmanbari Road Sergeant in charge said there are some people who come out with insignificant reasons, though they are not supposed to do it now.
So these people are being stopped. If everyone is allowed to go, the crowd will increase again, he added. The ongoing strict lockdown will be continued for another three days.
