More landslides likely in hill region: Met office

Landslides may occur at places over the hill regions of the two divisions – Chittagong and Sylhet – due to heavy rains, says a special weather bulletin of Met office.
It says, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at places over Sylhet and Chittagong divisions due to active monsoon during next 24 hours commencing from 5 pm on Friday.
Another weather forecast valid for 24 hours commencing 9 am on Friday reveals that a low has formed over Northwest Bay and adjoining area. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate elsewhere over North Bay.
It predicts that light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, Dhaka, Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions and at many places over Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions with heavy to very heavy falls at places over Chittagong, Barisal and Sylhet divisions. Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country, the forecast said.
Yesterday’s highest temperature was recorded 36.2 degrees Celsius at Faridpur and Dimla and the lowest 23 degrees at Rangamati.
