More arson attacks on passenger buses

Sporadic incidents of violence marked the 11th day of the countrywide blockade called by Bangladesh Nationalist Party-led 20-party alliance in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country.
However, the intensity of violence and damages were apparently lesser than the previous days. The pro-blockade activists set fire to 16 vehicles and vandalised other 30 across the country, including the capital Dhaka.
In capital Dhaka, the blockaders launched arson attack on a passenger bus at
 Tejgaon industrial area yesterday night. In Rampura, a gang of unidentified miscreants torched a passenger bus near Bangladesh Television Bhaban around 6:30pm. Besides, a gang of unidentified miscreants set afire a microbus near the Kakrail intersection around 6:45pm. A passenger of the microbus received burn injuries in the attack. He was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), said the Fire Service official. On the other hand, a gang of unidentified miscreants set fire to a passenger bus at Rayerbagh intersection in Jatrabari area around 2:45pm. A passenger of the bus was burnt injured and sent him to the DMCH immediately, said the hospital’s In-charge and Sub-Inspector (SI) Mozammel Haque.
In Neelkhet, some blockade supporters also torched an auto-rickshaw near Dhaka University around 11:00am.
Apart from these, a bus of Jatriseba Paribahan was torched on the Orphanage Road in Lalbagh around 07:00pm.
In Mohammadpur, the blockaders set fire to a human hauler in Mohammdupur area yesterday morning. In Khulna, a passenger bus was torched by the Jamaat-Shibir men at Gabtala in the district town around 6:30am. The miscreants also vandalized at least ten vehicles at that time. Police arrested five Shibir activists from the spot.
In Chittagong, miscreants hurled crude bombs targeting the political office of Moinuddin Khan Badal MP, a leader of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) executive in Chandgaon residential area of the district on Thursday night.
They also vandalized two auto-rickshaws during the time, said, Syed Abdur Rauf, Chandgaon Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC). In Rajshahi, Two motorcycles were torched near Charghat Police Station in Rajshahi district around 3:45pm. Police also arrested a suspected man in the connection.
Incident of Noakhali, a gang of miscreants has torched an auto-rickshaw at Amtali in the district town. In Gazipur, at least two auto-rickshaws were torched at New Market in Kaliganj upazila under Gazipur district around 10:am.
In the incident of Lakkhipur, a gang of miscreants blasted al least two petrol bombs on a goods-laden truck at Mandari Bazar area around 12:15am when the driver and helper were critically burnt injured. They were taken to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
