Bangladesh registered 41 deaths from coronavirus in span of 24 hours, , the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said on Wednesday.
“With the new fatalities, the death toll now stands at 1,888 and the death rate at 1.26 percent,” Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration) of DGHS, said in a press briefing.
She said also that 3,775 more people have detected positive for Covid-19 in the same span.
“With this, the current infection rate is 21.12 percent and the total number of infections in the country is 1,49,258,” she said.
The DGHS official said that a total of 17,875 samples were tested in 69 laboratories across the country in the last 24 hours and the total infection rate so far stands at 19.03 percent, Dr Sultana added.
Besides, 2,484 Covid-19 patients have recovered from homes and hospitals care in the last 24 hours across the country.
She said that the total number of recoveries has reached 62,108 and the current recovery rate is 41.61 percent.
On March 8 Bangladesh has reported its first coronavirus infection cases and on March 18 it registered its first death from the virus.
