Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Dhaka University (DU) Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique on Thursday called upon the university teachers for more dedication and morality to improve the quality of education.
Terming the students as the main evaluators of the teachers, he said, “We may introduce “Students Assessment System” at Dhaka University”, a university press release quoted him as saying at a day-long workshop on “Orientation to Self Assessment Program (3rd Phase)” on the campus.
Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC-DU) organized the programme at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on the campus with its Director Professor Dr Sheikh Shamimul Alam in the chair.
Pro-VC (Academic) Professor Dr Nasreen Ahmad, Pro-VC (Administration) Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman and Treasurer Professor Dr Md Kamal Uddin addressed the function as special guests.
IQAC Additional Director Professor Dr Mahbub Ahsan Khan delivered welcome address at the function while another IQAC Additional Director Professor Dr Md Rahmat Ullah conducted it.
Urging the teachers to uphold self dignity through their self assessment, Professor Arefin Siddique underscored the need for improvement of teachers’ quality to make skilled graduates at the university.
A total of 72 teachers from 24 departments of the university took part in the workshop, the release said.
