Moot training at BU

In order to provide opportunities for the law students to develop their research and advocacy skills, a four-month long Moot Training Course was inaugurated at Bangladesh University (BU) on last Friday.
The Moot Court Training is actually a time tested and most dependable method and the best tool available for equipping a law student with the attributes of an effective and successful professional lawyer. In the opening ceremony, MK Rahman, former Additional Attorney General of Bangladesh and former Chief Coordinator, International Crimes Tribunal Bangladesh inaugurated the training course as the Chief Guest, while Kamrul Hasan, Honorable Treasurer, Bangladesh University chaired the session.
Barrister Khan Md. Shameem Aziz, Member of the Supreme Court Bar Association and Bakir Uddin Bhuiyan, Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh were also present as the Special Guests.
Department of Law, Bangladesh University from now on will regularly organize this kind of moot training once in a year and will distribute certificates to the participants after successful completion of the course.
In his welcome speech, Prof Dr Mohammad Nazmuzzaman Bhuian, Adviser, Department of Law encouraged the students to take full advantage of the training course to improve their speaking, writing, research, critical-thinking and legal analysis skills.
The distinguished guests congratulated the Department of Law, Bangladesh University to organize such an extensive moot training, which will not only prepare them to successfully participate in different national and international moot competitions, but also will eventually allow these future lawyers to present a case in a clear and convincing way in their professional life.
Apart from inaugurating the training course, the chief guest handed over crests to the five successful alumni of the Department of Law, Bangladesh University, who have recently got themselves enrolled in the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Major (Rtd.) Niaz Mohammad Khan, Registrar, Bangladesh University, Advocate ASM Sayem Ali Pathan, the External-Coordinator of the training course and respected teachers were present on the occasion. The ceremony ended with the vote of thanks from Mr. Dewan Md. Al Amin, Head, Department of Law, BU.
