Chittagong Bureau :Nominations of eight mayor candidates including the immediate past Mayor Manzoor Alam, city AL Secretary AJM Nasiruddin and city convenor of Jatiya Party (Ershad) Solaiman Alam Seth, declared valid on Wednesday by the Returning Officer of Mayor election -2015 of Chittagong City Corporation [CCC]. Returning Officer MA Abdul Baten cleared their nominations after scrutiny of 13 nomination papers for mayoral candidates at Chittagong Muslim Hall auditorium in the morning. The scrutiny of the nomination papers for mayor, 18 ward councilors and 5 reserved women councilors began in the morning and continued till 5 pm. The scrutiny of other 23 ward councilors and 9 women councilors will be done today (Thursday), sources said. The valid nomination papers of mayoral race are – BNP backed nominee Manzoor Alam, AL backed AJM Nasiruddin , JP backed Solaiman Alam Seth, MA Matin of Islami Front, Arif Moinuddin of BNF, Syed Sajjad Zoha, Forkan Chowdhury and Mujibul Hoque Sukkur of Islami Front. At least, 288 nomination papers for general ward councilors and 71 nomination papers for women councilors have been submitted before the returning officer.
