Fazlul Haque Montu has been elected President of Bangladesh Jatiya Sramik League, an associate organisation of Bangladesh Awami League, while KM Azam Khasru elected General Secretary.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced their names at the second session of its 12th national council held in the capital’s Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday.
Montu was the Executive President while Khasru was Publicity Secretary of the Sramik League’s outgoing committee.
Besides, Molla Abul Kalam Azad has been elected Executive President of the organisation. He was the Senior Vice-President of the outgoing committee.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the national council by releasing pigeons and balloons at Suhrawardy Udyan in the morning.
Thousands of councilors and delegates from 78 district organizations across the country joined the programme.
