Mayor of Sylhet City Corporation Ariful Haque Chowdhury inaugurated the program on Saturday morning. The program started from Dargah Gate area in Ward No. 1 of SCC. The campaign will be conducted in 26 wards in phases.
Inaugurating the program, SCC Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury said the cooperation of the people of Sylhet is needed to make the city corporation’s mosquito eradication and cleaning campaign a success. The mayor said SCC workers collect garbage from certain places. If the honorable citizens throw garbage in certain places, it will be possible to clean the city more quickly.
The mayor urged the people of the city not to throw rubbish in open spaces, drains or streams around the houses under any circumstances. Citizens have a special role to play in finding and eradicating the source of dengue mosquitoes. Because dengue spreads to different places inside the house. For example, dengue spreads in frozen water under the bed, AC water, flower tub, coconut or coconut shell, clean water frozen on the roof of the house. As a result, these places need to be kept clean regularly.
SCC Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury has urged the health department of Sylhet City Corporation to immediately report the source of dengue.
