BNP-backed Chittagong Unnyon Andolan mayor candidate Monjur Alam Monju yesterday pledged to turn Chittagong into a city free from water-logging.
Presenting a 54-point development plan in his election manifesto, Monju pledged to implement the 1995 Master Plan of Chittagong for completely removing water-logging from the port city.
“Water logging has lessened during the last five years,” Monju said while
answering the queries of journalists. The BNP-backed mayor candidate Monjur Alam Monju presented his election manifesto just before four days ahead of the polls at Rima Community center yesterday afternoon flanked by the Chittagong Unnyon Andolan leaders and activists.
In his 54-point plan Monju said his dream is to build the port city as completely free from water-logging.
He also said he will ensure quality education, bring the port city under Wifi network, undertake massive income generating programmes and build dormitories for working women.
Monju, backed by BNP-led 20 party alliance, is contesting with the poll symbol ‘Orange’ in the ensuring CCC elections to be held on April 28.
His main contender Awami League-backed mayoral candidate, A Z M Nasir Uddin, announced his election manifesto yesterday.
Convener of Chittagong Unnyon Andolan, Prof. Abul Kalam Azad, readout the manifesto in favour of Monjur. Monjur Alam answered the questions from journalists.
Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) President Colonel (rtd) Oli Ahmed, former ministers Amir Kasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Abdullah Al Noman, Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin and Jafrul Islam Chowdhury, BNP leaders Golam Akbar Khondoker, S M Fazlul Hoque and Sarwar Jamal Nezam, among others, attended the function.
