Monir Hossain of Bangladesh shared the 2nd slot with 15 other players after the 3rd round games of the Malaysia Chess Challenge in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Tuesday.
Monir a player of Protiva Daba Gosthi earned 2.5 points from third round while another Bangladesh player Hanif Mollah earned 2 points.
In 3rd round games, Monir beat Kamaruzzaman Norazwan of Malaysia while Hanif played draw against Ho Chen Ee of Malaysia.
Meanwhile, in the 12th IGV Dato Arthur Tan Malaysian Open Chess, the two other Bangladeshi players — grandmaster Niaz Murshed and FM Mohammad Fahad Rahman — earned 1.5 points each after 3rd round games at the same venue also on Tuesday.
