Mongla, the 2nd biggest Sea Port of the country introduced one stop service for solving the documentation works of export and importable goods at the port quickly in the year 2015 as a part of the work for making Bangaladesh as a digital country. As a result, the users of the port have been getting the services up to their expectation from the port authorities very easily during the last few years under this system (one stop service).
This one stop service will be more modernized by step by step in future, it was disclosed by the traffic department of the port. It was also learnt from a source of the port-authorities that from 4 sections such as container billing, in staffing, equipment and revenue cum return branch of the traffic department under one stop service are rendering to the users of the port regularly.
Through those 4 sections all kinds of documentation activities and payment taxes and tax payment documents are completed and those being received by the concerned persons within 20 minutes instead of long 2 hours.
At present all kinds of bills for unloading container at the port and other commodities or articles, reconditioned cars are being procured through using automation software within 20 minutes.
Besides this, after submitting the demand slips for mechanical equipments by the users of the port to the equipment branch are booked and operators are appointed from the concerned (equipment) branch through electricity department on on-line service. Consequently, operators of mechanical equipments section can reach to their working place.
Md. Mostafa Kamal, Director (traffic) of the port told a booth of Janata Bank Ltd was opened near the port under the one stop service. All kinds of taxes (revenues) of the port are deposited in this booth regularly.
Previously a user of the port normally used to take 2 hours time to deposit the tax. But at present it can be done within 2 minutes (instead of 2 hours). The traffic director further added, in order to render better and easy service to the stake holders of the port engaged in export and import business the serviced system will be (more) modernized through using ultra modern technologies.
When contacted by the newsmen Rear Admiral Mohammad Musa, Chairman of Mongla Port Authorities told, in order to ascertain the desired service to the export-importers and stake-holders of the port a number of projects were already undertaken by the concerned authorities. At present the users of the port are enjoying all kinds of facilities under one stop service introduce by the port authorities. The Chairman further added, through adopting all kinds of most modern information and technologies Mongla port will play an important role as a helping hand of the Government to gain the desired goal of vision 2021 and 2041 of the government.
