Captain of Bangladesh Cricket team Mominul Haque fought back heroically against the tight bowling attack of Zimbabwe bowlers in the first innings of the lone Test match at Harare Sports Club Ground in Harare on Wednesday. Mominul played a captain’s knock of 70. He hit 13 fours in his 92-ball innings. He contributed 60 runs in the third wicket partnership with Shadman Islam before Shadman was out for 23. They built the worthy partnership when Bangladesh’s score was just eight for the loss of two wickets.
Later, Mominul and Mushfiqur Rahim added together 38 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Mushfiqur Rahim (11) was trapped leg before wicket by Blessing Muzarabani when the tourists’ total was 106 for the loss of four wickets.
When Mominul Haque returned to the pavilion after he was caught at the gully by Dion Myers off Victor Nyauchi Bangladesh’s score was 132 for the loss of six wickets.
Mominul reached the fifty-run landmark using 64 balls including 10 shots across the ropes.
It was Mominul Haque’s 14th half-century in his Test campaign. He played 45 Test matches to hit his sparkle half-century.
The Bangladesh Skipper scored 3349 runs playing 83 innings. His highest score in Test cricket is 181. He has 11 centuries in his Test career.
