Sheikh Arif Bulbon :
As a versatile theatre actress, Momena Chowdhury has already achieved her fame in and outside the country.
Based on the story of struggling life of a woman during the War of Liberation the solo theatre play titled Lal Jamin, scripted by Mannan Hira and directed by Sudip Chakraborty, was first staged on May 19 in 2011 at Natmondal of University of Dhaka.
The 200th show of Lal Jamin will be staged today. Momena is very much excited in this regard because 200 show of any solo play is going to be staged in the country for first time. It was first production of Shunnyon Repertory Theatre. Cultural Affairs Ministry has given grant for 74 shows. To stage this play, Momena Chowdhury got inspiration from legendary and promising playwrights, directors and actors which made her more confidence. Today it will be staged at BATC Auditorium of Kurmitola Airport only for invited guests.
While talking about its 200th show and success of the play Momena Chowdhury told this correspondent, “I am grateful to all to present this play on stage for 200 times. If my family members did not give me space I couldn’t continue it. Many persons in and outside the country enjoyed this theatre play. Though its story is based on Liberation War and struggling life of a woman during that time so, I want to show this play to our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. I strongly believe one day my dream will come into true. She will enjoy this play. I want to stage this play for the Prime Minister through Cultural Affairs Ministry. I also give thanks to Mannan Hira and Sudip Chakraborty.”
