Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen on Tuesday called on foreign investors to invest more in Bangladesh.
“We provide enough opportunities for foreign investors compared to other countries. Bangladesh is business and investment-friendly country. So, I invite investors to invest more in our country,” the minister was addressing at the inaugural ceremony of Bangladesh trade and investment summit 2021 at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the city.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the weeklong virtual international summit from Ganabhaban.
Ministry of Commerce and Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) organised the international virtual Summit to celebrate the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Golden Jubilee of Independence of Bangladesh.
Momen also said that Bangladesh significantly progressed in the agriculture and energy sector.
“We are now food sufficient. We are enabled to supply power and energy across the country successfully. We hope that we can achieve a developed country’s status by 2041,” he added.
He informed that Bangladesh will be the 26th economic country on the globe by 2030. Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said Bangladesh is one of the fast-growing economic countries around the world.
“We provide more trade and investment facilities for all. Our per capita income stood at $2227 dollars. We will go further ahead…the government set up 100 economic zones for the sake of economic development,” he added.
DCCI president Rizwan Rahman gave a welcome speech there while FBCCI president Md Jashim Uddin, among others were present in the inaugural ceremony.
