The prosecution submitted formal charges against Muhibur Rahman Boro Mia, Mujibur Rahman Angur Mian and Abdur Razzak, accused of crimes against humanity during the Liberation War, at the International Crimes Tribunal-2 on Sunday.
The three-member tribunal, headed by Justice Obaidul Hassan, set May 25 to pass its order on whether it would take cognizance of the allegations.
Prosecutor Advocate Sultan Mahmud Simon placed formal charges before the tribunal, saying that the prima facie materials were found in the investigation against the trio.
“They were involved in the crimes against humanity during the Liberation War. They committed crimes like murder, torture, rape and abduction against the Bangalis in 1971,” Simon said.
The prosecution brought four allegations against them and included the statements of 21 witnesses in the formal charges.
Meanwhile, the Appellate Division of Supreme Court adjourned the appeal hearing of the secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed till Monday, who was sentenced to
death for his involvement in the crimes against humanity during War of Independence.
Defence counsel SM Shahjahan placed submission before the four-member Appellate Division bench, headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, reading out the charges 5 and 7 against the Jamaat leader.
