The Saptami Puja of the Goddess Durga ended yesterday with the placing of Naba Patrika of the Goddess at different pandals and temples across the country.
The Mohashtami, one of the main days of the five-day Durga Puja of the country’s Hindu community, will be held today.
Kumari Puja, worshipping of the virgin Goddess of strength, peace, prosperity and enlightenment, and the main attraction of the day, will be held at Ramkrishna Mission and Math in the city as elsewhere across the country at 10-30 in the morning.
Talking to BSS, Sthiratmananda Maharaj (Niranjan Maharaj), assistant secretary of Dhaka Ramkrishna Mission and Math said, “We worship the Goddess Durga as the mother of the universe who remains in every individual woman as a mother. Kumari Puja is being held to imbibe everybody with that feeling as the Devi Durga is the symbol of motherly feeling and an adolescent girl as well.”
Draped in new dresses, hundreds of Hindu devotees irrespective of ages thronged the pandals and temples in the capital city to offer Anjali before the Goddess Durga in the morning while Mohaprosad had been distributed among the devotees at noon on the Saptami day yesterday.
The Duga Puja is being celebrated this year in a total of 28,458 puja pandals across the country including 221 in the capital city.
