Mohammedan SC clinched the Airtel Under-18 Football title beating Brothers Union by 2-0 goals in the final at Bangabandhu National Stadium on Thursday.
Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy witnessed the final as chief guest and later distributed the prizes.
Akash Saha of Mohammedan SC was adjudged the best player of the tournament while Mohammedan captain Badrul Hasan Tutul named the best player of the final.
After a barren first half, skipper Tutul and Nizamuddin scored one goal each for the traditional black and white team
Tutul put Mohammedan SC ahead in the 71st minute by chipping the ball over the onrushing Brothers goalie Shawkat Osman Helal, off a Abu Sufian pass (1-0).
Nizamuddin sealed the fate of the match scoring a goal in the stoppage time of the last half, off a Shahin pass, amid huge jubilation of the Mohammedans fans (2-0).
In the first half, Brothers Union saw one of their goal disallowed due to off-side while Mohammedan attackers did not enjoy much success in the opponent territory.
In the 50th minute of the match, Mohammedan forward Nizamuudin Khurshid curved a cross from the left flank to striker Abu Sufian who missed the flight of the ball while trying to head the ball home.
After conceding the first goal, Brothers Union tried hard to find an equalizer, but a stubborn Mohammedan defense foiled all their attempts.
On their way to the final, Mohammedan SC beat Team BJMC 2-1 in the second semifinal on Monday (Sept 29) while Brothers Union confirmed their final berth beating Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra 4-3 in tie breaker in the first semifinal on Sunday (Sept 28) at the same venue.
