League leader Dhaka Mohammedan SC conceded a frustrating 31 runs defeat by D/L method in a rain effected match against lowly Cricket Coaching School (CCS) in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League on the reserved day (Sunday) at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
In the day’s other match, holders Prime Bank Cricket Club beating bottom ranked Kalabagan Cricket Academy by eight wickets with 63 balls remaining at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, also on reserved day (Sunday).
Despite the day’s 3rd defeat in the league, Dhaka Mohammedan maintained their top slot in the league table securing 12 points from nine matches while defending champions Prime Bank CC keep their super league hope alive collecting 10 points from nine ties.
Chasing a target of 149 runs in 25 overs, Mohammedan SC resumed the innings on the reserved day (Sunday) with overnight total 13 for no loss in 2.2 overs and were bundled out for 117 runs in 21 overs.
Opener Ezaz Ahmed scored 29-ball 35 runs featuring four fours and two sixes, lower order Nazmul Hossain Milon contributed 25-ball 32 runs including one four and two sixes while another lower order Habibur Rahman made run-a-ball 20 with one four and a six, were the three Mohammedan’s batsmen reaching the double figures.
Salman Hossain, who grabbed a half century for CCS on Saturday, also displayed his mantle claiming three wickets for 27 runs and was adjudged man of the match while Mehrab Hossain captured four wickets for 14 runs.
Earlier on Saturday, Cricket Coaching School (CCS) scored 149 for all in 24.5 overs in a curtailed 25 over-a-side match with Salman Hossain making 58 off 52 balls including eight boundaries.
Besides, Amit Majumder and Uttam Sarkar added 24 and not out 23 runs respectively.
Ariful Haque bagged three wickets for 29 runs 4.5 overs while Habibur Rahman took two wickets for 23 runs for the side.
In reply, Mohammedan SC scored 13 for no loss in 2.2 overs before the match was abandoned on Saturday and rolled for the reserved day (Saturday).
In the day’s another match, replying to Kalabagan Cricket Academy’s 89 all out in reduced 21 overs, Prime Bank CC easily reached their ultimate goal scoring 92 for 2 in just 10.3 overs with national all rounder Sabbir Rahman quick-fired an unconquered 40 runs off just 29 balls featuring five fours and one six.
Opener Shahnaj Ahmed scored 13-ball 22 runs including two fours and six while two down Nurul Hasan made an unbeaten 15 run off 17 balls with two fours.
Mehedy Hasan Miraj and Abu Jayed took one wicket each giving away 12 and 22 runs respectively..
left-arm spinner Monir Hossain, who bowled economically to pick-up three Kalabagan CA wickets for 12 runs was adjudged the man of the match.
Earlier on Saturday, Kalabagan CA set target of 90 runs for Prime Bank Cricket Club (PBCC) after collected 89 for all in curtailed 21-over-a-side match on Saturday..
Mehedi Hasan Miraz scored 19 runs while Irfan Sukkur and Taposh Ghosh added 12 runs each. Prosenjit Das and Abdul Halim were the other double figure scorers with 11 runs each.
