Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited moved to the semifinal of the Federation Cup football eliminating Chittagong Abahani Limited by 2-1 goals in the first quarterfinal held on Sunday at Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city’s Kamalapur.
In the day’s match, midfielder Shahriar Emon scored for Mohammedan while Nigerian forward Ebimobowei netted for Chittagong Abahani Limited.
Besides, midfielder Arafat Hossain of Chittagong Abahani scored a suicidal goal during the proceeding. Both Mohammedan and Chittagong Abahani launched attacks and counter attacks and despite the repeated attempts, neither of the teams could not break the deadlock with the first half ended a tame goalless draw.
After resumption, both the teams came to the field with more organized way to break the stalemate and finally Mohammedan took the lead through a suicidal goal. Chittagong’s Abahani’s Arafat made the hara-kiri scoring an own in the 65th minute.
