Former Health Minister Mohammed Nasim is still remained unconscious following an operation after a brain stroke on Friday.
He is now at Incentive Care Unit, in Bangladesh Specialised Hospital at Shyamali in Dhaka where he was admitted after tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.
Mohammad Nasim’s son Tanvir Shakil Joy on Saturday told journalists, quoting physicians, that they would observe him at ICU for two more days for normal return of his consciousness.
Mohammad Nasim, also a Presidium Member of ruling Awami League, was undergoing treatment Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s neurosurgery department professor Raziul Haque performed the surgery on Friday.
Tanvir Shakil said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina assured him after the operation that she would arrange better treatment for his father if needed.
He was admitted to the hospital with about 50 per cent infection on his lung, Tanvir said, adding that his father was hospitalised in the day when his mother Laila Arjumand recovered from COVID-19 at the hospital.
Mohammad Nasim was given plasma therapy on Tuesday.
The 74-year-old former minister had been suffering from different health complications, including high diabetes.
