Popular playback singer of the 60s and 70s Mohammad Ali Siddiqui, also music director of the country, has been shifted to Intensive Care Unit (CU) of LabAid Specialised Hospital in the capital.
Earlier, he was admitted to the hospital under Dr Ashraf Ali due to his old age complications on Monday. Three years ago, he was faced cardiac arrest and brain stroke. Therefore he is a patient of kidney and diabetics.
Suraiya Siddiqui, his wife, asked the countrymen to pray for her husband’s early recovery.
Mohammad Ali Siddiqui was born in Netrakona on February 2, 1942. He stepped into playback singing through recording for the film Preet Na Janey Reet.
Siddiqui lent his voice to some hit numbers in over 200 feature films. He could carve a niche in millions of hearts through his popular songs like Oi dur dur durantey, Heshey kheley jibonta jodi choley jai, and Ami ek duranta jajabar.
Since 1960 he started rendering songs in radio and movies. He has rendered more than 3.5 thousand songs till now.
