A construction worker died after an iron rod fell on him at the Moghbazar-Mouchak flyover construction site in the city’s Eskaton area on Wednesday morning.
The victim was identified as Emon Hossain, 25, son of Kabir Hossain from Gaibandha, police said.
Ramna Police Station Sub-Inspector Tapas Kumar Ghoshal said, “Emon was working at street level when a piece of rod fell on him from above at the construction site in front of the Daily Janakantha Bhaban at about 11.45am.
Emon was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead at about 12:25 pm, the police official said.
The body was kept at the hospital morgue, the SI said.
An unnatural death case was filed in this connection, he said.
