Jamaat-e-Islami on Sunday said people here got upset over Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit as he did not take any effective step for the “restoration of democracy” in Bangladesh.
In a statement, party’s acting ameer Makbul Ahmad said the country’s people had expected that Modi during his Bangladesh visit would fulfil their desire by talking about “restoration of democracy” in the country.
“But his no conducive and effective step is visible to people for the restoration of democracy. Overall, people have got frustrated from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit as their expectation is not fulfilled,” the
statement reads. It further said, “We hope the Indian Prime Minister as the head of the government of the largest democratic country will play a meaningful role in establishing democracy in Bangladesh and take effective measures to resolve outstanding problems between the two countries.”
The party also claimed that the protocol agreements signed during Modi’s visit for the cause of India’s necessity.
