Agency, Assam :
There is no wave in favour of Narendra Modi in the country, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said after voting in Assam in the sixth phase of the national election. (Voting today: 10-point cheat-sheet to what’s at stake)
“I don’t think the country as a whole is struck by any Modi wave. It is a creation of the media,” Dr Singh said in Dispur, where he is registered as a voter.
The Prime Minister has more than once criticized Narendra Modi, the man the BJP hopes will succeed him in the top post.
In January, he had said that it would be “disastrous for the country to have Narendra Modi as Prime Minister” and described him as “someone who has presided over the mass massacre of citizens on the streets of Ahmedabad.”
Modi and his party have also targeted the Prime Minister repeatedly. Two books by insiders who described Dr Singh as a well-meaning man without any actual control over his government were seized by the BJP recently.
