Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has urged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for improvising India’s relations with Bangladesh further with better connectivity and development of the state.
Sarkar made the request during their first meeting held in New Delhi on Friday, reports Indian media.
Inviting Indian Prime Minister to visit Tripura, the CM said Tripura was connected to India through Bangladesh by roads, railways and waterways which need to be restored.
“There’s an urgent need for transit and transshipment facilities through Bangladesh,” Agartala News Express (ANE) quoted Manik Sarkar as saying.
He mentioned that the government of India may persuade Bangladesh government for allowing multi modal transportation of goods through Bangladesh with Ashuganj as the port of call including related infrastructure development and access to Chittagong port.
