Modern Sylhet Central Bus Terminal in South Surma to lunch in June

The Central Bus Terminal in South Surma is becoming one of the most modern bus terminals in the country. Already 80 percent of the work of this bus terminal has been completed. The state-of-the-art terminal will be launched in June after all the work is completed.
The Central Bus Terminal at Kadamtali is link main road between Sylhet and the rest of the country. The terminal is built on 8.12 acres of land. Thousands of long distance buses ply from the terminal to different parts of the country every day. The condition of the terminal was dilapidated with double the number of buses plying on the internal roads.
There was no seating for passengers in the previous terminal. Although some transport companies had seating arrangements for their own passengers, thousands of other passengers had to suffer. There were no public toilets for passengers. What was there was also used as a public toilet in only for name. At present, this terminal is the most beautiful and modern in the country at a cost of Tk 61 cr.
The terminal will be launched next June. However, the construction of the terminal started in 2019. It was supposed to end in June next year (2020). But it took 3 years to complete the work. Now SCC is saying that this state-of-the-art bus terminal of the country will be completed in June this year.
According to SCC sources, SCC took the initiative to modernize the Sylhet Central Bus Terminal in such a situation. Tk 81 crore is being spent on its infrastructural development. At present Cisco seats imported from Taiwan are being installed in the upper part of the entire terminal, the terminal has Arrival Building, Departure Building, Welfare Building, First Aid. The World Bank is completing the entire work at a cost of Tk 61 crore.
Nur Azizur Rahman, Chief Engineer of SCC said, “The cost of infrastructure development of the terminal is Tk 81 crore.” The money was given by the World Bank. The entire work is being monitored by the World Bank authorities from Washington. Sylhet City Corporation and LGED are in charge of the whole work.
Nur Aziz said the infrastructural work of the terminal has been divided into three parts.
The modern building at the bus terminal has restrooms, law enforcement rooms, toilets, clean water etc. for the passengers.
The modern terminal will have a separate parking zone for each route, separate entrances and exits. The terminal will have a separate room for first aid if someone falls ill or an accident patient.
