Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has said a mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping over different regions of the country and predicted it is likely to continue.
The districts of Chittagong division and Rangamati are experiencing moderate heatwave, the Met Office said on Saturday.
Besides, mild heatwave is sweeping over Dhaka, Sylhet, Khulna and Barisal divisions, and the regions of Rajshahi, Pabna, Feni, Cox’s Bazar, Chandpur, and island of Sandwip.
Weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country, the BMD said in a forecast for the next 24 hours commencing at 9am.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it said.
Trough of westerly low lies over West Bengal and adjoining area while seasonal low lies over South bay.
The country’s maximum temperature on Friday was recorded by 38.6°C at Sitakunda and minimum temperature on Saturday was recorded by 15.5°C jointly at Tetulia, Dimla, and Rajarhat.
The sun will set at 6:13pm on Saturday and will rise at 5:55am on Sunday in Dhaka.
