In collaboration with the International Rice Research Institute (IRI), under the supervision of RDRS Bangladesh, cutting of modern varieties of crops was held in Harishwar village of Balapara union in Kaunia upazila of Rangpur district in 2021.
On Monday at 11 am, a head-to-head exhibition of 3 varieties of paddy (Bri Dhan 52, Bri Dhan 69 and IR 13F441) was held on the land of Md. Mizanur Rahman, a farmer of Hariseshwar village in the upazila. In the presence of all, 50 sq m of paddy of 69 varieties of Brie paddy was cut and threshed. The yield per hectare is 5.6 tons. Mohar Ali and Mahfuz Alam, Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officers of Balapara Union were present on the occasion. About 40 farmers in the area including Anup Kumar Ghosh, Agriculture Officer, RDRS Bangladesh’s Agri Project and Md. Alamgir Hossain, Data Collector. The International Rice Research Institute (IRI) has set up an exhibition on modern high yielding (UFC) varieties of paddy suitable for the area as per the demand of the farmers through the above 3 flood tolerant varieties of agri project.
